About the Artist

Stephen Mangum is a representational painter built-in in 1954 in Mississippi and currently living and working in San Francisco, California. A graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute, his paintings in recent years have been focused on themes of racism and social justice through portraiture and figuration.  His work has been exhibited at the DeYoung Museum, the Crocker Museum, and the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, and has been juried into and won awards in numerous national and international competitions and gallery shows. He has too been featured in American Art Collector, International Artist, and many art journals. A member of the Portrait Order of America, the International Guild of Realism, and the Nation Oil and Acrylic Painters Social club, his paintings are in private and corporate collections across the U.S.
